I thought I would share a picture from my personal collection for all of you vintage Halloween and antique collectors....This item has been in my family for over 40 years, and was purchased at an estate sale where some of the antiques dated to the late 1700's!

I was recently contacted by a magazine asking me for some higher resolution pictures of valuable Halloween items from the early 1900's to the mid 1900's. I sent the magazine a few pictures of this item. This is an  antique Halloween ashtray/match/cigarette holder. The piece is marked "Germany", which means it was made pre 1930, and is made of iron. I've never scene another like it, and athough it's not a toy, I thought you guys would get a kick out of seeing it.

Here's a picture of  a vintage "Skull Rattle" from the 1960's.  This item is from my personal collection. It was made by Clinton Toys in Hoboken, New Jersey. I think this was the same company that made the awesome "Glenn Strange Frankenstein Halloween bucket" that I have a picture of under my Misc. Toys section. One of these Skull Rattles recently sold on eBay for about $30 (which included the shipping price). My item is in better condition then the item sold on eBay, and I've only seen one other go up for bid over the past few years. I did see one version of the Skull Rattle in white plastic, and that one sold for around $75. I'll add these pictures to the Noisemakers section shortly.

I wish Clinton Toys in Hoboken, New Jersey were still making classic Halloween toys like this in the United States!

I added a "Sexy Witch" noisemaker to the noisemaker menu. I picked up this item at the Saline Antiquesshow a couple years ago.

Well, the only thing I found this weekend at a garage sale was this little wind up skull made by the Funco company. It's probably frm the late 60's or early 70's.

I added some new pictures to the Noisemakers section. Check em out!

The plastic Rosbro witch on motorcycle ended yesterday. The winning price was about $440 (including the shipping). I've seen this particular price sell for as little as  $380 to over $800, so I think the winner of that auction did pretty well.

I added some new pictures to the plastic toy section. It's interesting to see how different colors of plastic can make an item so much more valuable. I show some different variants of the plastic "witch on motorcycle" by the Rosen company. The orange and  green motorcycle seems to be the most common, and often sells for around $300. Other variants like the  pinkish orange witch with the white motorcycle can fetch $800 or more . Not bad considering the price of these use to be 39 cents (back in the 1960's)!

Well, I went to 5 garage sales. No good stuff. I did find some junky stuff, but nothing worth buying.

I have a little time today to check out some local garage sales in Southeast Michigan. I haven't had a lot of luck recently at garage sales finding vintage Halloween toys and items. I seem to have better luck at antique shows these days, but the prices are always pretty high (although some dealers are willing to cut a deal now and again).

Here's a noisemaker I found at an antique show recently. This was made by the  Kirchhof Company who was one of the bigger noisemaker manufacturers back in the day. I am very picky on condition, and luckily this one is in great shape.
